*Inner Freedom & Strength with Alexander Technique

This workshop is about discovery: discovery about whole body coordination based on a healthy head-spine relationship, mind-body awareness and mindfulness in activity, breathing without interference, wholeness of being, and letting go to create space for something new. You’ll discover how to release unwanted tension and change unconscious patterns of unneeded effort as you direct your energy in a positive and productive way. This re-education of the whole mind-body self opens the door to freer and easier movement, effortless upright posture, improved clarity of thought and intention, and naturally overcoming pain, stiffness and stress. The Alexander Technique offers a way to care for yourself in all your activities so you will be able to apply what you learn to your work, sports and exercise, performance arts, rehabilitation, resting, and daily life.

**Please note: This workshop requires a minimum of 6 participants. In the event this minimum is not met, anyone signed up will be notified and refunded

Mari Hodges began learning the Alexander Technique due to chronic back and neck pain, which she was able to overcome. She is passionate about helping others to discover mindfulness of the whole self and the ease, well-being and freedom of choice that come with practicing the Alexander Technique. She is also an Art of Running instructor certified by Canadian champion and AT teacher Malcolm Balk. Mari dances tango and Brazilian dances, which she spent many years teaching, plays the violin and enjoys running. Mari’s continuing study of the Alexander Technique includes neuroscience and biomechanics, running and movement. She also studies non-violent communication and chronic pain.
