*Informed Beginnings Childbirth Classes

Informed Beginnings is the result of the collective dream of a group of experienced natural childbirth educators. It is a not-for-profit co-operative that allows members to pool resources and share great ideas, resulting in the most comprehensive, up-to-date childbirth classes available to parents-to-be. Rather than basing the classes on one person's work or one specific method, implying that there's a "right way" (and therefore also a "wrong way") to give birth, InfoBe draws on the wisdom of many experts in the natural childbirth movement, and is a dynamic organization that combines the wisdom of many childbirth educators and doulas. We teach mothers how to really relax and work with their bodies, and we teach partners how to effectively provide emotional and physical support and to advocate when needed. We provide a broad range of proven, effective techniques for coping with labor naturally and healthfully, recognizing that every birth is unique and each mother will use what works for her.

Informed Beginnings offers you the following:

-INFORMATION Contemporary, evidence based comprehensive classes covering pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding.
-SUPPORT Instruction and support for low-intervention birth, with the understanding that not every birth can be low-intervention. A successful birth is one in which you make good, informed decisions based on the labor you are given.
-COMMUNITY The opportunity to develop small communities of students who go through class together. You and your classmates will also have the opportunity to connect to larger communities of parents sharing similar life changes.

Informed Beginnings comprehensive classes cover:

-Anatomy & physiology of pregnancy
-Optimal fetal positioning Natural methods of pain management
-Safe, effective comfort techniques
-Birth place and provider choices in your area Informed decision making

Sheri Walker is a former nurse with over 20 years experience including obstetrics. After being a stay at home mom for a few years until her children were in school, she certified as a birth doula through Doulas of North America (DONA) in 2013. She has been working as a birth doula, childbirth educator and birth/newborn photographer since then. Her passion is informed and empowering choices in childbirth with the understanding that pregnancy and birth being a normal physiological process are unique to each individual and each birth. Recently, Sheri completed a lactation course which now allows her to provide breastfeeding support. Sheri's objective in providing these services is to minimize the fear in childbirth so that birth memories will be precious. Along with her husband and two children, Sheri moved to Helena from Alaska in 2016. When she is not witnessing the miracle of birth, Sheri can be found gardening, exploring the great outdoors, knitting or reading a good book.
